The 100 Strong path
Five milestones, 25 to 100+.
Growth isn't one giant leap - it's five recognizable stages, each with its own feel, its own wall, and one move that breaks through. Find where your church is, and start there.
The First Core
Fragile, intimate, family-sized. A public service of ~20 can feel "unhappening" - but this is where every church starts.
Phases 1–2The Comfortable Community
Warm, known, easy - "the most comfortable size of church there is." Everyone knows everyone; the pastor is at the center of all care.
Phases 2–3The Single-Cell Barrier
Full and busy - right at the "average church" ceiling. The pastor is maxed at the ~30–50 people one person can personally shepherd, and the room may be hitting 80% full.
Phases 3–4The Tipping Point
Exciting but contested. Somewhere in the 100–150 range there's often a challenge to the pastor's authority - the last point where one person can still "affect a big chunk."
Phase 5Multiplying
Bigger and more alive. Around 150, members start bringing friends again, because they've already let go of the small-feel community they had at 100.
